France/La Mézière. Twinning with Kosel goes back forty years
The small northern German town of Kosel, in the province of Schleswig-Holstein, has been twinned with the town of La Mézière since 1986.
Since then, a delegation of Macerians has visited Kosel every other year. The following year, Koselers are welcomed into Macerian families. Exchanges only ceased during the pandemic in 2020 and 2021.
The links between our two cities are strong. And both the German and French delegations are always intergenerational, attracting many young people. Which, as it happens, is in contradiction with the ageing nature of twinning," notes Christine Hainry, chairwoman of the Germany commission of the La Mézière sans frontière twinning committee. This twinning, which is about to celebrate its fortieth anniversary, has really worked to create friendly links between the populations of the two towns.
The association has been supported by the Franco-German Citizens' Fund for several years.
This year, a delegation of 63 Macerians will be making the trip in July to celebrate the 40th anniversary.
