France

The Mamers (Sarthe) twinning committee with Gerolzhofen is looking forward to a busy year. And looks to the younger generation.

Meeting at the beginning of February 2026 in the Salle du Cloître, the members of the Mamers(Sarthe) and Gerolzhofentwinning committee gave an encouraging assessment of the past year. Some forty participants, including several local councillors, took part in the convivial general meeting.

With 52 members for 2025 and balanced accounts, the association confirms its good health and dynamism.

Highlights announced

2026 is already shaping up to be a busy year. From Sunday March 22, the committee will be lending a hand at the first Printemps de Rillettes event, manning the lunchtime refreshment stand at the salle des fêtes in Place Carnot.

Another eagerly-awaited event: from June 4 to 7, German friends will be welcomed to Mamers. The French families, eager to return the warm welcome they received last year on the other side of the Rhine, are already mobilizing to make this stay a time for sharing.

The traditional members' day, scheduled for August 29, will further strengthen ties between members. Finally, in December, the committee will take part in the Mamertin Christmas markets. President Philippe Ory is looking forward to welcoming Beate Glotzmann, a German friend who has already attended the event in 2024.

Focus on youth

Beyond the festive events, the association is looking to the future. Philippe Ory, the association's president, spoke of the desire to get young people more involved in the exchanges, drawing inspiration from the French municipal youth council.

The aim: to build a joint project to anchor the friendship between the two towns and pass on the spirit of twinning to new generations.
