In Togo, financial support from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) totals 3.5 billion FCFA for food security initiatives. This is the result of the balance sheet recently presented by the organization's Togolese branch.

Over the past year, this investment has been used to support small producers, restore land, train beneficiaries and build rural infrastructure. In concrete terms, by 2025, over 3,500 small-scale farming households had been supported with improved seeds, fertilizers and irrigation equipment.

The funding has also enabled the restoration of over 1,700 hectares of agricultural land and the vaccination of over 600,000 head of livestock. FAO-Togo also highlights the construction of processing units, notably a local rice parboiling unit in the Dankpen prefecture, as well as the construction of boreholes.

In terms of capacity-building, 36,000 people have been trained on various topics, while several strategic documents have been drawn up, mainly national and sectoral plans for agricultural sectors.

According to the organization's officials, these various activities testify to the UN agency's commitment to food security in Togo, the development of rural communities and the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
