France/ "A high point": the Malestroit twinning committee welcomes two English delegations
Cojem (Comité de jumelage européen du pays de Malestroit), chaired by Jacques Simon, is welcoming two delegations from the UK in 2026.
Cojem (Comité de jumelage européen du pays de Malestroit) held its annual general meeting on Friday February 13 in the Salle des Associations, rue des Écoles, in the presence of some 30 members. This year, the Malestroit association, chaired by Jacques Simon, welcomes two delegations from the United Kingdom, a highlight in the continuity of the cultural and friendly exchanges established with our British partner towns over the last 32 years. This double welcome, in June and especially in September with over twenty-five visitors, represents a new stage in this cooperation," says the Chairman. The twinning with Jedburgh, Scotland, was formalized in 1994, followed in 2018 by a second twinning with Eyam, England.
Language: the key to communication
Cojem's dynamism is underpinned by introductory English courses run by English speakers. Language is the key to communication, facilitating exchanges during official visits and encouraging participants to take part in trips. By learning English, participants become players in the twinning project, not just spectators," emphasize the members of the board. Classes are held on the first three Mondays of the month, from October to the end of May, and are attended by almost thirty people, divided into groups of four or five.
A collective mobilization
The hosting of these two delegations will mobilize members over the coming months.Organizing such an event requires the involvement of numerous volunteers: accommodation, logistics, entertainment... To ensure the success of the event, the idea of enlarging the office has been put forward and approved.
If anyone is interested in hosting visitors, please contact Cojem on tel. 02 97 75 13 32. Two new members have joined the Board of Directors: Agnès Roussin and Dominique Rouault.
