Chad: an awareness-raising mission mobilizes pupils and students around statistical competitions in Abéché
As part of the promotion of statistics and the strengthening of the national statistical system, an awareness-raising mission is visiting Abéché, capital of Ouaddaï province, to encourage pupils and students to take part in African statistical competitions and prepare future winners for African statistical schools.
The mission is led by Sanoussi Baradine Abdelkerim, head of the partnership and cooperation management unit. It also includes Moubane Élysée, executive at the Institut National de la Statistique, des Études Économiques et Démographiques (INSEED), accompanied by Awat Daoud Tchari, head of the INSEED branch in Abéché.
On Tuesday February 3, 2026, awareness-raising sessions were organized for students at the Lycée national franco-arabe d'Abéché and the Lycée Mahamat Yakhoub Dobio. Discussions focused on the importance of statistics and the opportunities offered by the competitions.
The initiative aims to inform and prepare candidates for the competitive examinations for Statistical Engineer (ISE) and Statistical Analyst (AS).Analyste statisticien (AS), while encouraging the participation of girls, strengthening INSEED's capacities and supporting schools with teaching materials.
The expected results include a strong mobilization of candidates, better female representation, rigorous organization of the competitions and selection of the best profiles.
At the end of the sessions, the mission handed over teaching manuals to the administrations of the two high schools concerned, in support of the teaching and promotion of statistics.
