Morocco/Green hydrogen: IRESEN and Global Green Growth Institute sign collaboration agreement
On Wednesday in Marrakech, the Institut de Recherche en Énergie Solaire et Énergies Nouvelles (IRESEN) and the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) signed a collaboration agreement in the field of green hydrogen, on the sidelines of the 5th World Power-to-X Summit.
This strategic agreement aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation on structuring projects, particularly in the fields of scientific research, support for green investments and the development of new energy sectors.
It places particular emphasis on the implementation of a green hydrogen production structuring project, as well as a feasibility study for a green methanol project in the Oriental region.
On this occasion, GGGI's representative in Morocco, Abdemajid Bennis, expressed his satisfaction at seeing this partnership come to fruition, stressing that "this agreement is strategically aligned with the Kingdom's national priorities and with the missions of both institutions".
He added that "this collaboration will make it possible to develop projects of common interest in high-potential fields, in particular green hydrogen, which represents a real opportunity for our industry.hydrogen, which represents a real opportunity to position Morocco as a key player in the global energy transition".
For his part, Samir Rachidi, Managing Director of IRESEN, said that the signing of the agreement was "a milestone in our cooperation with the Seoul-based Green Growth Institute".Institute for Green Growth based in Seoul", adding that it concerns the feasibility study for a green methanol production project in the Oriental region.
Mr. Rachidi pointed out that green methanol represents a strategic lever for equipping Moroccan ports with competitive synthetic fuels and enabling them to integrate the Green Shipping Corridors currently being structured at international level.
He concludes that this dynamic is part of a global context marked by the regulatory changes expected from the International Maritime Organization, which should accelerate the development of the hydrogen and synthetic fuels economy.
Based in Seoul, Republic of Korea, the GGGI is an international organization dedicated to promoting green growth, a growth paradigm characterized by a balance between economic growth and the environment.
Placed under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the 5th World Power-to-X Summit aims to foster collaboration, creativity and exchange in the field of green hydrogen, while addressing ways to accelerate the global energy transition.
