Congo/ "Kotonga" project: kits for disabled women victims of violence
On September 11 in Brazzaville, the non-governmental organization "Observatoire handicap humanité (H20)", headed by Emmanuel Bati, handed out kits to disabled women of all categories, with a view to empowering this category of people involved in small-scale trade.
A total of twenty-two women were the beneficiaries of the2nd cohort of the "Kotonga" Project, financed by the French Embassy in Congo. This class is named "Maman Bibiane Itoua", the administrator-mayor of Mfilou, Brazzaville's seventh arrondissement.
The kits received include table soccer games, freezers, sewing machines, bales of second-hand clothes, food products, a traditional oven, bags of cassava flour and much more. The aim is to enable young mothers and disabled women who are victims of multi-faceted violence to become self-sufficient through income-generating activities.
Shortly before the donation was handed over, H20 youth representative Annelle Mercia Ngondzi Matondo thanked the French Embassy in Congo for having contributed to improving the livelihoods of these young people. to improving the purchasing and economic power of young mothers and disabled women, who have long been discriminated against.
According to her, the H20 NGO is advocating the diversification of the institution's economy by setting up the "Meya" economic interest group.Meya" economic interest group, set up in June 2025 and officially recognized by the Mfilou town council.
The head of the social action district, Ida Yann Paka Missié, presented the survey carried out on the evaluation of projects carried out by beneficiaries. In all, 40 projects were validated, the first cohort of which included 22 project files for young mothers and disabled women.
Two files were rejected, 12 resized and validated after one week. Eight project sheets scored between 32/50 and 50/50, i.e. 20 validated project sheets. Today, 22 project sheets have been evaluated and 22 validated, i.e. 42 projects have been validated and authorized by the monitoring and evaluation committee. Beneficiaries were selected according to the following criteria: relevance, coherence, feasibility, viability and efficiency.
