France/In Quéven, the twinning committee with Koro in Mali comes to an end
After 25 years of activity, the twinning committee between Quéven and Koro in Mali is to be dissolved. The announcement was made on Saturday, September 6, 2025, in Les Arcs, in the presence of the mayor of Koro, Atimé Djimbé. Founded in 2001 by Alain Duclos, the association has provided considerable assistance to this rural Malian commune, "more than €200,000 in local aid", according to current president Bernard Le Lez.
Regular assistance with sheep fattening, the construction of a cultural center and the supply of furniture for the school have been realized over the years, not to mention exchanges and trips to the area, which are now impossible due to political instability. "The remaining €12,000 has just been used to create a classroom," says Bernard Le Lez. In 2010, the committee counted 110 members and a prestigious patron, storyteller Lucien Gourong.
