Togo: over 31,000 households targeted by new cash transfer program
In Togo, the government has announced a new cash transfer program for 31,450 vulnerable households across the country.
Part of the 2025 citizen budget, this scheme aims to strengthen existing social safety nets and foster sustainable resilience among precarious populations.
The support program, under the aegis of the Ministry of Grassroots Development, targets all regions. These include: Lomé (1,230 beneficiaries), Maritime (9,800), Kara (9,766), Savanes (10,242), Plateaux (368) and Centrale (44).
The approach adopted goes beyond one-off assistance and aims to provide beneficiaries with the means to strengthen their autonomy.
It should be noted that in 2023, a wave of transfers had already been initiated in the country, particularly in Greater Lomé, following the Novissi program at the heart of the COVID-19 crisis. At the time, this was part of an extension of the Basic Social Nets Project (FSB), jointly supported by the State, the World Bank and French Cooperation (via AFD), for a total investment of around 18 billion FCFA.
