France/ Beaupréau-en-Mauges. German twinning seeks host families
It all began in 1979 with the wedding of Antoinette, from Andrez, to Dieter Fuller, from Lauter (Germany), where the members of both families wanted to extend the festivities. The idea of a soccer match on the other side of the Rhine was born. A year later, Andrezé sent a 50-strong delegation to Bavaria. The beginning of a beautiful friendship that has lasted for 45 years.
And while these exchanges no longer take place under the partnership of the soccer club, the two villages have retained the tradition of meeting every two years. From August 6 to 10, the commune will welcome a Bavarian delegation, the first time this has happened since 2018 following the health crisis.
The Amitié Andrezé-Lauter association is also looking for host families: "Don't hesitate to join us to share these festive moments, while introducing our German friends to our tourist heritage and our gastronomy."
To get you in the mood early, the association is organizing a beer evening on Friday, May 16, starting at 7:30 p.m. in Place de l'Église.
