Congo/ Snél: equipment to modernize Kinshasa's electricity distribution network

As part of its drive to modernize its network and combat load shedding and other power cuts in Kinshasa, Société nationale d'électricité (Snél) has just acquired new equipment.

In keeping with his commitment to governance based on planning and accountability, as emphasized in his end-of-year speech, Snél SA Managing Director Fabrice Lusinde has taken a further step towards modernizing the Kinshasa electricity distribution network.e, Snél SA Managing Director Fabrice Lusinde has taken a further step in the program to modernize Kinshasa's electricity distribution network. Against a backdrop of dilapidated infrastructure, fraudulent connections and recurrent load shedding, Snél SA is redoubling its efforts to improve the reliability and security of electricity supply.

To this end, the company has just taken delivery of a series of new materials and technical equipment designed to reinforce the capacity and resilience of the capital's power network. Notable acquisitions include : a 1000 KVA generator and UPS recovered from former presidential sites by the Sogeac company; 59 transformers, including 20 units of 20/0.4 KV - 630 KVA,20 units of 6.6/0.4 KV - 630 KVA; one unit of 30/20 KV - 15 MVA; one unit of 30/6.6 kV - 15 MVA; 15 current transformers (CTs) of 30 kV; 2 neutral CTs; 5 rectifier cabinets.

This equipment, acquired from the company's own funds, reflects the determination of Snél SA's management to meet the structural challenges facing the national grid, despite the difficult economic climate. They will enable the gradual replacement of obsolete infrastructure and the securing of electricity supplies in several critical areas of Kinshasa. As part of the logistical framework for this operation, General Manager Fabrice Lusinde has requested the urgent provision of two storage sites at the MCL, to ensure efficient and secure management of these materials.

By entering the year 2025 under the seal of rigor, strategic planning and accountability, Snél is reaffirming its public service mission and its desire to offer the population a modern, reliable and sustainable electricity network. This new acquisition is tangible proof of the company's ongoing transformation.
