France/In Indre-et-Loire, Fondettes celebrates 50th anniversary of twinning with German town of Naurod-Wiesbaden
Some twenty young people from Fondettes, Indre-et-Loire, have just returned from a stay in the twin town of Naurod-Wiesbaden, Germany. Other events are planned for the 50th anniversary of the twinning.
From April 5 to 11, 20 young people aged 11 to 17 from Fondettes and their three chaperones visited Naurod-Wiesbaden, a German town that has been twinned with Fondettes for 50 years. Hosted by the Naurod Twinning Committee, they met the German pen pals and families whose lives they would be sharing for a week.
Accrobranche, summer tobogganing, a visit to the Eberbach cloister, a tour of the Opel-zoo, a thermal pool, a day out in Wiesbaden, a rally in the city and a visit to the Reinhard Ernst Museum - the program of cultural and sporting activities prepared for them lived up to all its promises. The trip ended in a warm atmosphere with a meal attended by host families, young people and twinning organizers.
New trip in May
As Mauricette Roullet, president of the twinning, explains, "These exchanges enable our young people to continue celebrating Franco-German friendship. They're already looking forward to meeting up again next year in Fondettes, for a trip scheduled from March 30 to April 4, 2026."
The twinning between Fondettes and Naurod-Wiesbaden celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. Fifty adults from Fondettes will be taking part in the trip to Naurod from May1 to 4, 2025, with the return trip to Fondettes scheduled for September 19 to 20, 2025.
