Côte d'Ivoire/Archibat 2025: Urban renewal to boost the local economy
"Land availability and urban renewal" was the central theme developed by industry experts at the Archibat 2025 Architecture and Building Exhibition, held from April 11 to 15, 2025 at the Parc des expositions d'Abidjan-Port-Bouët.
The panel, composed of Mr Thomas Flavien, Deputy Director of PFO-Immobilier, and Mr Youssouf Ouattara, urban planner and former Managing Director of the Agence Gestion et Développement des Infrastructures Industrielles (AGDI), aimed to shed light on the strategic role of land availability in industrial development. According to them, these dynamics not only improve the living environment of populations, but also stimulate the local economy by attracting investors and creating new spaces adapted to contemporary needs.In conclusion, the experts made a number of recommendations. These included the adoption of rigorous urban planning; the promotion of public-private collaboration to mobilize the necessary resources and maximize the economic and social benefits of projects; the use of sustainable and inclusive solutions, integrating environmental and social dimensions, and the development of a sustainable urban environment.Finally, a strategic rethinking of land use, in particular through the optimization of existing spaces - whether buildings or industrial zones - to better meet the growing needs of urban populations.
