Algeria/ Adrar: cold storage projects with a total capacity of 20,000 m3

Several projects to build cold stores with a total storage capacity of 20,000 m3 have been selected for the wilaya of Adrar, according to representatives of the Frigomedit company.

These future facilities include a refrigeration complex with a storage capacity of 15,000 m3, currently at an advanced stage of construction, in addition to a 4,000 m3 project underway in Reggane, according to Salem Beloui, Director of Frigomedit's South Pole in Adrar.

These structures are of great importance for the supply of plant and animal food products requiring rigorous preservation conditions, as well as for market regulation, he added, explaining that the company handles the packaging and distribution of products.

The capacity of the refrigeration complex, located in the main town of the wilaya, is divided into compartments with 12,000 m3 of positive-temperature cooling, in addition to a capacity of 3.000 m3 of negative-temperature cooling, divided between four (4) large cold chambers of 1,500 m3 each, four (4) chambers with a capacity of 1,000 m3, and other chambers of 500 m3 each, in proportion to farmers' needs, was detailed.

Frigomedit (a state-owned Algerian company specializing in the production, storage, processing, marketing and export of fresh market garden produce) is planning to extend its activities to the agri-food industry.
