Togo/ Digital: the Personal Data Protection Authority launches its activities
A few months after it became operational, the French Data Protection Authority (IPDCP) has reached a new milestone. The institution officially launched its activities on Friday March 28 in Lomé, with the kick-off of an awareness campaign.
The event, which brought together representatives of the Republic's institutions, government bodies and agencies, and the media, was an opportunity to present the body and its missions, and outline its action plan.
" In a world in the throes of digital transformation, the role of the IPDCP is essential in building a digital space of trust, where citizens, businesses and institutions can evolve in complete confidence . citizens, businesses and institutions can evolve serenely, in complete security", explained the Chairman of the Instance, Bédiani Béléi. Bédiani Béléi, the Instance's No. 1, assured us that the organization " will ensure that information and communication technologies do not pose a threat to individual freedoms and privacy".
To this end, a vast public awareness campaign will be launched on April1, to improve citizens' understanding of their rights and the mechanisms for protecting them against the exploitation of their data.
