Among other decisions, Niort's city council ratified its twinning with the town of Sorel-Tracy, Quebec, on Monday March 31, 2025.

Twinning. Elected representatives voted to twin with the Canadian town of Sorel-Tracy, in Quebec. Planting. As part of its canopy plan, which aims to plant 60,000 trees by 2030, the city of Niort has entered into a partnership with the Créateurs de forêt company, providing it with a 3.5-hectare plot on the Vallée Guyot site.
