Belgium/Job offers multiply with the end-of-year festivities
More items on the shelves, more orders to be dispatched: the end-of-year festivities are boosting the business of many retailers. To cope with this, a large number of positions are available throughout Wallonia.
Forem reports nearly 4,000 job offers in the tourism, HoReCa, logistics and retail sectors. In a department store in Charleroi, manager Sedat Pamukçu employs 20% new staff during this period: "It's a festive period when our sales are higher, and the workload is greater".
To serve customers, cashiers and sales assistants are particularly in demand. Over 800 ads are available for these positions.
Reinforcements in logistics and tourism
The boom in e-commerce is creating a significant demand for labor in logistics centers. The Forem website and app are currently promoting 1967 job vacancies in the transport and logistics sector.
During this period, tourist sites will also experience a peak in visitor numbers. Horeca establishments are looking for waiters, receptionists and cooks. 1189 job offers are currently available in this sector.
Longer-term offers
As the holiday season is relatively short, most of the vacancies on offer are short-term, precarious contracts, such as replacement or interim contracts. But as Forem assures us, these sectors are hiring continuously. Personnel are sought throughout the rest of the year, and longer-term employment prospects are possible. Training courses are also offered throughout the year.
