Switzerland/ Valais: CHF 360,940 for "SOS Enfants de chez nous
360,940 francs were raised on Wednesday for the association "SOS Enfants de chez nous". The entire amount will be donated to disadvantaged children in the canton.
360,940 francs. This was the sum raised by the traditional fund-raising day for the "SOS Enfants de chez nous" association on Wednesday. The operation, run jointly by "Rhône FM" and "Le Nouvelliste", was a great success.
"This amount also includes the 80,240 francs collected by Rhône FM as part of the various events organized for its 40th anniversary," notes Marco Mayoraz, president of the association. "If we subtract them, the total is a little less than the sum raised in 2023, but we're very happy with this result."
As a reminder, last year's operation raised the sum of 312,242 francs. "Requests, ranging from basic needs such as baby diapers to leisure activities such as sports or music camps, always come to us through intermediaries such as the CMS or various social institutions," recalls Marco Mayoraz.
See you in 2025 for the next operation!
The challenge taken up by Guillaume Mayoraz and Vincent Fragnière, both members of the "SOS Enfants de chez nous" committee, has enabled them to raise awareness of this cause from Monthey to Vex, via Sierre, Uvrier, Sion, Saillon, Martigny and Saint-Maurice.
"We met some wonderful people, like the man from Sédun who made three payments in one day, or the boss from Martigny who raised 1,000 francs within his company," explain Guillaume Mayoraz and Vincent Fragnière, who were behind this first event. "We also realized that about a third of the people we met didn't really know about the approach, even though it's been in existence for 32 years. Which just goes to show how useful it is to go out and meet people."
