SENEGAL-SANTE-PREVENTION / Kolda: parents urged to have children vaccinated against measles and rubella
On Tuesday, Mbassa Sène, Prefect of the southern department of Kolda, invited parents to have children aged 0 to 15 vaccinated against measles and rubella in order to eradicate these diseases in their communities.
"We have just launched child vaccination operations against measles and rubella to eradicate this highly contagious disease in our communities. I invite all parents to get their children aged 0 to 15 vaccinated", declared the administrative authority on the sidelines of thethe launch of the measles and rubella vaccination campaign at the Ousmane Senghor elementary school.
At the end of the campaign, scheduled from December 2 to 11, the prefect expressed the hope that Kolda would be able to achieve the objective of a vaccination rate of over 99°/°.
"At the end of the vaccination campaign, we want Kolda to be among the leading regions, and to achieve this we need to reach a rate of over 99% of children vaccinated.We're counting on the mobilization of all players, especially the community relays, to make this a success", urged the Prefect of Kolda.
The launch day of the measles and rubella vaccination campaign was an opportunity to mobilize communities, particularly women and "Badienou Gokh" and teaching staff.
In the Kolda region, health authorities are targeting 39,2927 children aged zero to 15.
