France/The Red Cross strengthens its support for senior citizens in Mauritania with a new partnership
This Tuesday, at the French Red Cross headquarters in Passamainty, an agreement was signed with the Fédération Mahoraise des Associations des Personnes Âgées et des Retraités (FMAPAR), to support the elderly in Mayotte. This initiative is in line with the Red Cross' mission to reach out to all, with a particular focus on the most vulnerable populations.
Present in Mayotte since 1998, the French Red Cross is founded on the values of neutrality and humanity. Today, it is one of the world's largest solidarity organizations, working with people in precarious situations. Thanks to this new partnership, it is strengthening its commitment to the senior citizens of Mauritania by joining forces with FMAPAR.
The Red Cross center in Passamainty is already home to a clothing boutique offering items sorted by volunteers and destined for the most disadvantaged. The facility also includes essential services such as a SAMU social, a Maison d'accueil and a social grocery store, offering targeted aid to people in difficulty, selected on strictly social criteria.
With over 300 dedicated volunteers, the Red Cross pursues its actions as close as possible to local needs. Founded in 1859 by Henry Dunant, the organization remains true to its motto: "Everywhere and for everyone". More than just a slogan, this phrase embodies the spirit of impartiality and respect for human dignity that guides the organization in all its actions.
