Congo-Morocco/ Decentralized cooperation: a Moroccan support fund to boost local authorities

The Moroccan Support Fund for Decentralized Cooperation, set up to support African local authorities, was presented to the President of the Association des maires du Congo (AMC), Dieudonné Bantsimba, on November 27 in Brazzaville by the Moroccan Association of Presidents of Prefectures and Provinces.

The meeting between Dieudonné Bantsimba and representatives of the Moroccan Association of Presidents of Prefectures and Provinces focused on decentralized cooperation between the Congo and the Kingdom of Morocco.The two parties discussed the urgent need for the Congo to apply for the Moroccan call for projects in order to benefit from the support fund.benefit from the decentralized cooperation support fund that can help the country develop its local authorities.

This initiative was undertaken to give concrete expression to the partnership agreements signed by the two countries at the first forum on the revitalization and dynamization of decentralization and local development in the Congo, held from March1 to 4 this year. "The Moroccan International Cooperation Support Fund was set up in 2020 by the Kingdom of Morocco to support African local authorities. Having already launched three calls for projects without the Congo taking part, we approached the President of the Association of Congolese Mayors to ask Congolese local authorities to take part in this project.s participate in this fourth call for projects" , emphasized Moustapha Ameur, President of the Moroccan Association of Presidents of Prefectures and Provinces.

At the first forum on decentralization in the Congo, the Kingdom of Morocco signed cooperation partnerships with the towns of Oyo, in the Cuvette department; Impfondo, in the Likouala department; and Madingou, in the Bouenza department.
