France/Lempdes. Unprecedented twinning celebrations
During the weekend of Ascension, was celebrated a double anniversary of the two twinning of the City, namely thirty years with Hallstadt (Germany) and five years with Mangualde (Portugal).
It all began with the arrival on Wednesday of twenty firefighters from Mangualde on motorcycles after a 1,300 km journey, and on Thursday of two cyclists from Hallstadt, who pedaled 960 km.
The highlights of this festive weekend took place on Saturday in the town center, with a musical parade featuring a banda and the Portuguese group "Alca Tuna" from Mangualde. After initialling the renewal of the twinning charters, a plaque was unveiled on the tuning fork linking the towns of Hallstadt and Lempdes.
The morning continued with a concert given by the municipal band of Lempdes. The afternoon was devoted to the inauguration of the Mangualde and Hallstadt traffic circles, with the help of deuchistes to carry those present through the streets of Lempdes.
