DRC: PDL-145 T, the Steering Committee validates the program and the multi-year work plan

The Steering Committee of the Local Development Program of 145 territories (PDL-145 T), which met on Thursday, September 22, 2022 in Kinshasa around the Minister of State in charge of Planning, Christian, Mwando Nsimba, validated the program and the multi-year work plan set up for the execution of this governmental program

Several stakeholders attended the meeting chaired by Christian Mwando Nsimba.

The Deputy Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Ms. Rokya Ye-Dieng, indicated that the PDL-145 T reflected the will of the Congolese authorities to reduce territorial inequalities and poverty in rural areas through access to basic socioeconomic services and the promotion of rural development.territorial inequalities and poverty in rural areas through access to basic socioeconomic services and the promotion of local development in these areas.

"The multi-sectoral public investments directed towards the rural world by the President of the Republic, Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, will allow in the short, medium and long term to reach this objective", she noted.

According to her, the PDL-145 T as conceived by the Government of the DRC is a response to the objectives of the United Nations Cooperation Plan in the DRC, and of the Strategic Plan of her organization as well as at the national level of the UNDP Cooperation Program.

Mrs. Rokya Ye-Dieng explained that the PDL-145 T is also an innovative and accelerating model for achieving twelve out of seventeen Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), before renewing her commitment to the Government for which she is deploying all her arsenal, so that this program is a success.

UNDP will implement this program in nine (9) provinces across 54 rural territories on the basis of a cost-sharing agreement that was signed with the Government of the DRC on March 4, 2022.

The overall cost of the PDL-145 T entrusted to UNDP is estimated at 610.6 million USD out of a total of 1.66 billion USD.
