Senegal

A project of governance and equitable local human development, financed by the Spanish cooperation (AECID) and implemented for the benefit of the communes of Meri and Mboumba, was launched yesterday in the presence of elected officials and representatives of the territorial administration.

This initiative, led by the NGO Mon-3, aims to "contribute to the transparent and sustainable implementation of communal development plans in these two localities in the department of Podor.

In particular, the program encourages more effective and participatory governance by improving resilience and access to quality and sustainable services and resources for the most vulnerable populations.

It should be recalled that from 2018 to 2021, the MON-3 Foundation has unfolded, in collaboration with and the ARD of Saint-Louis, the GODELGEN project in Méri and PAPEF in the area. In the areas of governance and local economic development, the two projects have enabled structuring activities to be carried out in many villages in the department, especially in the communes of Mboumba (PAPEF) and Méri (PAPEF and GODELGEN).

The new approach is inspired by the beneficial effects of this dynamic, which is highly appreciated by the elected officials. The latter will benefit from training sessions in order to fully play their role.

Like the first version, the project will promote the creation of support funds for local initiatives and the recruitment and training of local development agents.
