Belgium/Made In Asia sold out since Thursday: "There is an explosion of manga in French-speaking Belgium
The biggest trade fair for geeks and pop culture fans, the Made In Asia, is a great success this year. More than 55,000 visitors are expected from Friday to Sunday. A first.
Cancelled in 2020 due to Covid-19, this edition was able to properly bring together fans of manga, video games and pop culture. Not a single seat has been available since Thursday. "It's the first time we've sold out of tickets for Saturday, Sunday, 3 days and weekends," says Rémi Lach, Made In Asia's spokesman.
A success explained by a certain craze for Asian culture. "There aredifferent factors that can explain it. There is already the health period that we have just lived through which makes people want to come back and then there is our program with a wide variety of activities and guests. There is also an explosion of manga in France and French-speaking Belgium which has helped these communities to get out of their homes, even if it is a bit stereotypical. There are always people who come solo to Made In Asia and who make friends and discover other communities. All these communities meet each other and it creates a large movement that keeps growing year after year, as we can see this year at the festival," says the spokesperson.
