The President of the National Assembly, Alassane Bala Sakandé, on Saturday, April 10, 2021, sponsored the third edition of the Difan-Gbar new crop festival in the Karaborola canton of Labola, in the Cascades region. The ceremony was also sponsored by Madjara Sagnon, Minister Delegate in charge of Decentralization.

The objective of Difan-Gbar is to celebrate the new harvest and contribute to a better integration of the communities of the Karaborola Canton and the Cascades region through the safeguarding and promotion of cultural wealth and the valorization of agricultural and pastoral products.

In fact, Difan-Gbar promotes the Karaboro cultural heritage and other ethnic groups that live together in the Canton. It has a festive character and mobilizes thousands of participants (all ethnic groups) from all parts of the Canton and outside the Canton, including Ouagadougou, Bobo-Dioulasso, Banfora and the diaspora of the Canton including those living in Côte d'Ivoire.

During this festival are held several activities including exchanges between the population and his majesty, an exhibition-sale of agricultural and livestock products, cultural, artistic and sporting expressions, etc..

It is therefore a real framework for sharing, cultural promotion, mixing and socio-economic integration of populations living in the area of the canton and outside. It is one of the main cultural activities of the Cascades region.

Grievances

The head of the Karaborola canton, Maouran Sagnon, submitted some grievances to the President of the National Assembly, Alassane Bala Sakandé. He also thanked the President of the National Assembly for his availability in making the trip with his strong delegation.

The President of the National Assembly, Alassane Bala Sakandé, for his part, asked the population to have a deep consideration for the canton chief in view of his background (the canton chief, Tolé Sagnon, being a former trade unionist who has worked hard to improve the living conditions of workers and the population) and who has agreed to put himself at the service of culture.

Promises

President Sakandé also promised an audience with the chief of the Karaborola canton, and also intends to plead with President Roch Kaboré and the government about the problems raised by Chief Sagnon.
However, he promised, on the spot, two boreholes in Karaborola before the rainy season and one million CFA francs to contribute to the celebration of the next harvest festival.

As for the sponsor of the ceremony, Madjara Sagnon, Minister Delegate in charge of Decentralization, she praised the availability of the authorities present who agreed to come, including four ministers from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. She praised the availability of the authorities present who agreed to make the trip, including four ministers, mayors, prefects, the governor's team of Cascades, the president of the Regional Council of Cascades, the Bishop of Banfora, etc.

As a reminder, the new harvest festival Difan-Gbar in Kar language was initiated in 2016 by his majesty Maouran Sagnon, chief of Karaborola canton, and is celebrated every year. The first edition was held in April 2017.
