An international collaboration co-financed by the European Union to accelerate the digital transformation of higher education in Vietnam
A rapidly changing digital ecosystem
On March 31 and April 1, 2025, Can Tho University hosted the International Conference on Digital Transformation in Vietnamese Higher Education.the official launch of the Erasmus+ ACCEES project (Accelerating the Development of the Digital Ecosystem in Vietnamese Higher Education). The event brought together experts, teacher-researchers, policy-makers and socio-economic partners from Vietnam and Europe, underlining the importance of international collaboration to meet the challenges of digital education.
In his opening address, the Director of AUF Asia-Pacific underlined AUF's 30-year commitment to supporting pedagogical innovation, strengthening links between universities and businesses, and training trainers in digital education. He recalled that these actions are part of Vietnam's National Digital Transformation Program 2025-2030, and that the AUF puts its expertise at the service of member institutions to foster an effective and inclusive digital transition. "Digital transformation is not just a question of technology, but also of governance and support for higher education stakeholders. AUF is proud to be a key partner in this modernization process." The ACCEES project promotes a multidimensional approach to digital education, combining pedagogical innovation, research and improved working conditions in higher education.
- Prof. Mamoru Ishida Mamoru Ishida, from Okayama University, highlighted the role of leadership in the development of digital ecosystems: "In leadership for digital ecosystem development, the characteristics of servant leadership-listening, empathy, persuasion and conscientiousness-are essential to empower and unite teams."
- Prof. Stephen Billett, from Griffith University in Australia, emphasized the importance of innovation in the work environment and lifelong learning: "The goals of workplace innovation and lifelong learning can be achieved together, but working conditions and educational support must be adapted."
Building a digital future together
The ACCEES project illustrates the determination of Vietnamese universities and their international partners to build a more innovative, inclusive and connected higher education. Through university cooperation, the exchange of expertise and the implementation of tailored digital solutions, this initiative is actively contributing to the growth of Vietnam's digital education system.
