The 4th Francophone Student Youth Congress Against Disinformation

Published on 26/10/2026 | La rédaction

On October 14 and 15, sixty students—members of the International Association of Francophone Student Leadership Clubs (AI-CLÉF) and students from Moroccan public universities—gathered for the Francophone Student Youth Congress (CJEF), a highlight of the 6th World Week of Scientific Francophonie (SMFS). On the agenda: a review of AI-CLÉF’s activities, awareness-raising on disinformation, and the first public presentation of the mapping of the Francophone sports community.

This4th Conference focused on disinformation—its causes and mechanisms—as the central theme of the event. At a time when people spend an average of five hours a day in front of a screen and are potentially exposed to false information, the fight against disinformation represents a major challenge for democracy. The goal was therefore to provide students with practical tools to identify misleading content online through a citizen journalism workshop conducted in partnership with Radio France Internationale (RFI) and the Factoscope network.

AI-CLÉF Takes Stock of Its First Two Years

This4th Francophone Student Youth Congress also marked the second anniversary of the International Association of Francophone Student Leadership Clubs (AI-CLÉF). Led by the students themselves, the session provided an opportunity to review the many initiatives carried out since its official founding in 2024 in Toulouse, France, and offered a glimpse into the next milestones for 2027. The association now has nearly 200 clubs spread across 60 countries around the world.

As a final highlight, the CJEF served as the venue for the first public presentation of a project conducted over the past year in collaboration with the Ministerial Delegation for Francophone Sports (France) across seven countries: Mauritius, Madagascar, Morocco, Cameroon, Senegal, Lebanon, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The mapping of the Francophone sports community will be presented to diplomats, experts, and scientists in the coming weeks.

The Congress was the subject of a presentation during the closing ceremony of World Francophone Science Week. Among the speakers, Chancella Mvou Kiba, vice president of AI-CLÉF, emphasized the following, summarizing the mindset of her peers: “We want to be young people at the heart of the action, so we can change what needs to be changed within the Francophone world! We see young people who dream and make their dreams come true thanks to the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie! ”

“Thank you for contributing to the influence of an open Francophonie. In a constantly evolving world marked by shared challenges and profound transformations, dialogue among nations and international cooperation are more essential than ever,” added Ibrahim Boukil, student ambassador from Mohammed V University (Morocco).

A major new development this year was the participation of student delegations from the École Publique de Journalisme de Tours (France) and the Institut Supérieur de l’Information et de la Communication de Rabat (Morocco), who helped raise the event’s profile on social media. We thank them for their contributions.
