Morocco/Tourism promotion initiatives continue in Marrakech
Initiatives to promote tourism in Marrakech are continuing, with a view to encouraging foreign and Moroccan tourists to continue opting for this flagship destination of the Kingdom and its hinterland.
To mark World Tourism Day, a "cultural tent" was set up in the legendary Jemaâ El Fna square. El Fna square, where a multitude of activities were organized to highlight the rich and diverse potential of the Ochre city and its hinterland.
Organized in collaboration with the Office National Marocain du Tourisme (ONMT), the Conseil Régional du Tourisme (CRT) in Marrakech and the Wilaya of the Marrakech-Safi region, this initiative hasmarred by the organization of an operation to welcome tourists and introduce them to the legendary hospitality of the Moroccan people.
The event was attended by the Wali of the Marrakech-Safi region and Governor of the Marrakech prefecture, Karim Kassi-Lahlou, as well as a host of officials and operators from the region's tourism sector.These activities continued with a "Travel TECH & resilience" demonstration, as well as a virtual tour of the Medina.
One of the highlights was the exhibition of a giant hot-air balloon in the heart of the mythical Jemaâ El Fna square, in the presence of stakeholders including local authorities. The aim was to guarantee the continuity and structuring of this symbolic participative and demonstrative action.
In a statement to MAP on this occasion, Hamid Bentaher, President of the Marrakech-Safi Regional Tourism Council (CRT), said that the nationals continue to impress the world with their unshakeable will and exemplary collective mobilization.
"With great willpower and solidarity, Moroccans, who have demonstrated, as usual, their resilience and unity in difficult and painful times, continue to impress the world," he said.
"After the last few days, which saw minimal cancellations of bookings, Marrakech is now a popular destination, as illustrated by the large number of tourists arriving at Marrakech-Menara international airport.Marrakech-Menara international airport, confirming the confidence Morocco enjoys on a global level, having the privilege of hosting major world congresses", he added.
Mr. Bentaher also indicated that the mobilization of the various players and professionals is continuing in the run-up to the Annual Meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), with a view to ensuring an exceptional welcome for visitors.
As a reminder, the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT), echoing the extraordinary solidarity movement of all Moroccans, launched "Ntla9awfMarrakech" (We meet in Marrakech), a major national communications campaign to encourage all Moroccans to get together in Marrakech for Eid Mawlid and the upcoming October school vacations.
Broadcast under the label "Ntla9awfbladna", this ground-breaking campaign aims to perpetuate the solidarity movement among Moroccans by encouraging them to travel en masse to Marrakech to share a moment of life with Marrakchis during this special period.
