France/Pétanque to finalize twinning with Bogatić

The friendship pact signed on the occasion of Saint-Denis 2024 between the towns of Dreux and Bogatić in Serbia, will culminate in a twinning arrangement next September. A pétanque tournament is being organized to finance the trip.

The Drouais were delighted with the festivities. The Saint-Denis 2024 fair was dedicated to Serbia, with the signing of a friendship pact between the towns of Dreux and Bogatić. The event was organized by the Franco-Serbe 28 association, chaired by Ratko Klisura, Dreux town councillor in charge of twinning. This pact of friendship will be transformed into a twinning on the occasion of a trip to Serbia, scheduled for September 8, 9 and 10. Ratko Klisura, Alain Lecou, head of the Bogatić section of the Dreux twinning committee, chaired by Audrey Saliou, and Benoit Gréco, president of Dreux pétanque, are organizing a pétanque doublette tournament (competitions A, B and C) on Sunday August 31, at the Dreux boulodrome. "Around 30 people will travel to Bogatić in September, to represent Dreux and attend the twinning festivities with our new friend city," confides Ratko Klisura.

The trip is scheduled from September 7 to 12. "After the twinning ceremonies and festivities, during which representative stands of the town of Dreux will be presented (Twinning Committee, but also companies from Dreux: Dammann Frères, Facel Vega, Philips...), tourist visits are on the program. The aim of our association is to give certain families of Yugoslav origin, of whom there are many in Dreux, the opportunity to rediscover their roots through cultural, sporting and leisure activities", continues Ratko Klisura. "Members of the Twinning Committee will be staying with families," says Alain Lecou.

"It is important that each section of the Twinning Committee can contribute in its own way to the founding principles of the association, by encouraging the establishment of relations between the inhabitants of the town of Dreux and its twin towns," confides Audrey Saliou. "The members of Dreux pétanque are delighted to host and organize this tournament. We put our infrastructure and know-how at the service of these competitions, and also manage the on-site catering," says Benoît Gréco.
