Juste Désiré Mondelé, Minister Delegate for Decentralization and Local Development, and Abdouramane Diallo, Managing Director of the African Solidarity Fund (ASF), discussed the opportunities offered by Congo's membership of this institution in Brazzaville on July 23.

The Republic of Congo became the 23rd member country of the ASF following its recent accession to this multilateral institution. Preparing to launch its activities in the country on July 25, the Managing Director of the ASF felt it was important to discuss the project with the Minister Delegate. "We know that there are many ambitions for rural areas. This membership is also the bearer of many projects within the framework of the national strategy and the vision of the President of the Republic. So we need to see what we can do together," explained Abdouramane Diallo as he left the audience.

According to Diallo, discussions with Juste Désiré Mondelé led to a number of enriching conclusions and avenues to be explored in greater depth. I simply hope that the Minister will come and see us at headquarters," he says, "because there is the possibility of setting up a representative office in Congo. In any case, we're working, and it was really important to exchange ideas so as to have much greater visibility, and pave the way for future achievements", he concluded.

The Minister in charge of Decentralization and Local Development, for his part, recalled that after having provided the departments with basic infrastructure, opened up the hinterland the hinterland and laid the foundations for development through the accelerated municipalization policy, the focus should now be on rural development. "Now that this stage has been completed, the next one should enable us to move towards rural development, so that living conditions are adequate and, above all, identical in all regions.living conditions inall departments, so that the population has access to quality basic social services", explained Juste Désiré Mondelé.

He also expressed his satisfaction at the country's commitment to this pan-African approach. " We are just a few days away from our independence, and we welcome this step, the fact that Congo is becoming a full member, and we also hope to have the headquarters of Central Africa in our country", he enthused.
