Morocco/Errachidia Province: A Multidisciplinary Medical Caravan to Serve Residents of Mountainous Areas
A multidisciplinary medical outreach program was organized from October 10 to 12 to benefit residents of the mountainous areas of Errachidia Province, with the aim of bringing health care closer to this segment of society.
Organized by the “Oasis Ferkla for the Environment and Heritage” Association, this humanitarian initiative was carried out in partnership with the “Actions Santé Femmes” Association, the Prefecture of Errachidia Province and the Regional Council, and in collaboration with the regional and provincial departments of Health and Social Protection.
The medical caravan provided care to residents of the Ferkla, Tinejdad, Amlagou, and Tadighoust, offering medical exams and consultations in several specialties, including general medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, and ophthalmology, with the participation of doctors from France.
In a statement to the press, Lahcen Kabiri, president of the “Oasis Ferkla for the Environment and Heritage” Association, noted that the medical caravan had conducted approximately 700 medical examinations, according to preliminary figures.
He explained that this initiative aims to reach nomadic populations living in areas far from health facilities, noting that the choice of medical specialties was based on a preliminary field study to identify the needs of the targeted populations.
For his part, Mohamed Houssini, a general practitioner in Errachidia, emphasized in a similar statement that the examinations benefited patients suffering from back and joint pain, as well as ear, nose, and throat (ENT) conditions, noting that medications were provided to patients based on their needs.
