France/ Pont-l'Abbé. A partnership between Galerie Rouge and L’Atelier

The Galerie Rouge in Pont-l’Abbé and the Centre d’éveil aux arts plastiques de Cornouaille (CEAPC), known as “L’Atelier,” are launching a partnership that broadens the horizons of both organizations.

For their first collaboration, Isabelle Richard—an artist who works in printmaking and a guest instructor at the Atelier—is exhibiting at the Galerie Rouge. There, she is showcasing a series of works she created with children during a residency at the Atelier from April through June of last year; she is also presenting her own works, which are imbued with great sensitivity.

“These are childhood memories that I express in a poetic way. The associations of images allow each viewer to choose their own vocabulary through the association of ideas,” explains Isabelle Richard. The artist uses several techniques: copperplate engraving, etching, and collagraphy.

Notably, the engraver Georges Conan, a renowned professor at the Quimper School of Fine Arts, had donated his press to the Atelier. Many of the pieces presented by Isabelle Richard were produced on this historic press.
