Burkina Faso/Education: The “Jeunesse éveillée pour l’action” Association Builds the Capacity of About 100 Teachers

The association Jeunesse éveillée pour l’action (JEA) organized a training and capacity-building session in Ouagadougou from September 9 to 13, 2026, for about 100 elementary and secondary school teachers.

This initiative, which took place both online and in person, aimed to strengthen participants’ skills in several areas, including civic education, leadership, school entrepreneurship, new teaching methods, psychological intelligence for educators of children and adolescents, intercultural communication, and lesson planning. Over the course of five days, teachers benefited from the expertise of several presenters to deepen their knowledge and improve their teaching practices.

Through this session, the JEA, which works to develop human capital through education and training, aims to address the need to adapt teachers’ skills to the realities and demands of today’s world.
“Civics is an essential pillar of education. Through this fourth edition, we aim to strengthen teachers’ skills to help them better fulfill their educational mission,” said Marcel Kalmogo, a certified high school and middle school teacher.

“As a teacher, this training has allowed us to deepen our knowledge and strengthen our teaching skills. After completing the first online module, I realized how relevant the material was, which encouraged me to participate in the in-person session,” said Timbyalgré Ouédraogo, a certified elementary school teacher.

As a reminder, the association Jeunesse éveillée pour l’action (JEA), founded in 2018, works to promote awareness and entrepreneurship. Through its initiatives, it is active in several areas, including training, skills transfer, financial education, and youth entrepreneurship.
