Vietnam/ Numerous Concrete Initiatives to Support Young Workers in Ho Chi Minh City
On July 19, at the Ho Chi Minh City Workers’ Cultural Palace, the Support Center for Young Workers in the Southern Megacity organized the 2026 edition of the “Ho Chi Minh City Young Workers’ Support Day.”
This event is part of the implementation of the 2026 cooperation program between the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation and the Municipal Communist Youth Union.
The event brought together nearly 1,000 union members, young workers, and volunteers participating in the “Pink Vacations 2026” volunteer campaign.
On this occasion, all union members and young workers received gift certificates worth 150,000 dong to use at booths offering products at stabilized prices. They also enjoyed a free meal of phở, a traditional Vietnamese specialty.
As part of the day’s events, the organizers distributed numerous useful gifts to the children of young workers facing difficult circumstances who live in the Bình Trung neighborhood. Several other support activities were also organized, including a market featuring price-stabilized goods, free haircuts, musical performances, and group games.
In addition, experts, legal professionals, and representatives from relevant agencies led informational and awareness-raising sessions for young workers. These sessions focused on drug prevention and control, identifying methods of human trafficking and online scams, as well as fire prevention and firefighting skills.
According to the organizers, the 2026 edition is no longer limited to material support, which had been the main focus of previous editions. It now places greater emphasis on high-quality support, based on developing digital skills, disseminating legal knowledge, and strengthening the life skills of young workers.
The close cooperation between the Municipal Communist Youth Union and the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation illustrates the essential role of sociopolitical organizations in supporting young workers. It helps to develop a young, skilled, and resilient workforce capable of meeting the demands of development in this new phase, while actively contributing to the socioeconomic development of Ho Chi Minh City.
