France/La Guerche-de-Bretagne. A sister-city relationship with Brome that has lasted for more than forty years

That really contributes to the group’s energy," explains Anne Geffray, president of the twinning committee.

"We don't often get the chance to go to the beach."

It was a packed trip that wasn’t dampened by the heat wave. And once again, it strengthened the close ties that have united Brome and the Guerchais canton for over forty years.

For some, it was an emotionally charged reunion; for others, a first meeting. Shared moments to discover each other’s cultures.

Over the course of these five days, the group was able to tour the city and its historic sites, visit the Tuesday market with live music, take part in festive evenings—including the July 14 celebration—and even see the sea: Since Brome is located inland, between Hanover and Berlin, our German friends don’t often have the chance to go to the sea. So we planned a day for them on the north coast in Cherrueix, at Mont-Dol, and also at Mont-Saint-Michel, which most of them had been dreaming of visiting,” says Anne Geffray.

They left on the morning of Wednesday, July 15, delighted with their stay, and said they’d see us again next year in Brome.
