Senegal/Local Development: Sandiara Signs a Partnership Agreement with UCAD to Benefit from Its Expertise
The Sandiara City Council (in western Senegal) has signed a partnership agreement with Cheikh-Anta-Diop University (UCAD) with the aim of drawing on its scientific and technical expertise in various fields, including vocational training, innovation, entrepreneurship, and environmental protection.
The agreement was signed by Aliou Gningue, the mayor of Sandiara, and the rector of UCAD, Alioune Badara Kandji.
Through this partnership, both parties are demonstrating their commitment to bringing the academic world closer to local governments, for the benefit of this municipality’s development.
According to the UCAD rector and the mayor of Sandiara, the partnership covers several areas, including agriculture, livestock farming, aquaculture, agri-food processing, applied research, and community health.
UCAD and its partner will also collaborate in the areas of vocational training, innovation, entrepreneurship, cultural tourism, environmental protection, and technology transfer.
“We are not merely establishing an institutional partnership. We are also choosing a new development model,” emphasized Alioune Gningue, calling on the academic community and research centers to contribute more to the development of local communities.
