Congo/ Public health: an open day at the national laboratory
On June 8, the Laboratoire national de santé public (LNSP) welcomed central and general managers, healthcare professionals, researchers, teachers and students, as well as journalists, to its premises for an open day, enabling the public to discover its main technical platforms, appreciate its state-of-the-art equipment and learn about its research work and projects.
The event, organized under the patronage of LNSP General Manager Pr Fabien Roch Niama, was marked by a guided tour of the premises. In addition to the open day, a free consultation campaign was held. Several patients were consulted and received free prescriptions. They were also screened for blood sugar, HIV, hepatitis B serology, electrophoresis and thick blood cell tests.
"This day gives us the opportunity to better understand the remarkable work carried out daily by the men and women of the LNSP, often discreetly, but always in the service of the general interest. This initiative is fully in line with the implementation of the National Health Development Plan, which makes strengthening the national laboratory system a strategic priority to achieve Universal Health Coverage ", declared Pr Fabien Roch Niama, in his speech.
He stressed that a high-performance healthcare system relies on reliable diagnostics, quality analyses and modern infrastructures, capable of responding effectively to the needs of the population. For the Director General, the LNSP is not just a medical analysis center, but also a genuine strategic tool for the State.
