On May 9 in Brazzaville, young mothers and women received certificates of completion for their entrepreneurship training, at the end of the first edition of the seminar initiated by the non-governmental organization Consortium panafricain pour la paix, headed by Dr. Ernest Nounga Djomo, and the Centre missionnaire Elim, headed by Bishop Norbert Okana.

The first training session was held from May 5 to 9 at the Centre Missionnaire Elim, under the sponsorship of the Venezuelan and Cuban embassies in Congo, as part of the "Ma chance, c'est toi" project. The aim is to train the female class in the informal sector with a subsidy to enable them to generate sustainable income-generating activities, and to strengthen basic literacy and numeracy skills for women who have dropped out of school.

Nearly 120 young mothers and women from various arrondissements of Brazzaville stormed the training center located in Mikalou, in the sixth arrondissement, Talangaï.The course was attended by learners who had expressed a desire to progress in the fields of cutting and sewing, hairdressing and beauty, agro-pastoral and hotel and catering.

A wealth of information was provided. Speakers stressed the importance of personal development, which opens women's minds to the qualities and shortcomings of an entrepreneur.

In terms of awakening the conscience of a woman leader, learners were asked to make an internal transformation from having a clear and authentic vision of themselves, while self-confidence calls for personal conviction to possess something while managing their emotions and those of the customer.

Bishop Norbert Okana urged the learners to create jobs. For him, this training for young mothers and women marks a new departure in the field of entrepreneurship.

"Young people need to create jobs in order to be free and have a balance in their daily lives. You have learned to be free morally and financially, because the lessons you have learned will help you to showcase your qualities," he declared.

The coordinator of the Pan-African Peace Consortium, Dr Ernest Nounga Djomo, assured the young mothers and women that he would support them in their training. He announced that a sample of the trainees would receive the kits in a few days' time at the Permanent Consultative Council of Civil Society, to put the training into practice.

The Venezuelan ambassador to the Congo, Angela Laura Suarez, sponsor of the project, deplored in her closing address man's attitude of always wanting to ask God without giving thanks for everything he does." The training is part of the project to perpetuate peace, which is why I thank all the authorities present and the beneficiaries, because you will move forward before staying put".

The ambassadors encouraged the women to continue their training, as the end of it will open up opportunities for practical internships in various establishments.
