France/A rich month of May in Angers, celebrating Europe and ten years of twinning with the Polish town of Torun
This year, 2026, Angers (Maine-et-Loire) celebrates the creation of Europe on May 9, 1950, with a series of events to mark ten years of twinning with Poland.
The city ofAngers (Maine-et-Loire), which at the same time celebrates ten years of twinning with Torun, Poland, will be offering some twenty events throughout May.
Among them, a concert by Polish countertenor Jakub Jozef Orlinski, a major figure in the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games, at the greniers Saint-Jean, place du Tertre-Saint-Laurent on Friday May 15. On Friday May 22, there will be a lecture on Copernicus, a famous Torun personality, with stargazing at Lac de Maine from 11 pm.

A round-table discussion on the evolution of the Polish music scene will be held at Joker's pub on Tuesday May 26, followed by a concert with Polish artists on Wednesday May 27, as well as a Polish meal in the city's schools and Ehpad.
The Maison de l'Europe will be offering six events, starting with a bike ride through downtown Angers on Sunday May 10, at 3 p.m., departing from the forecourt of the Théâtre du Quai, cale de la Savatte. The aim: to discover the sites co-financed by the European Union and understand their local impact.
