From January 26 to 30, Pointe-Noire's Be Green Academy hosted a practical training workshop dedicated to upcycling, as part of the circular economy and waste recovery course. For five days, participants were introduced to sustainable fashion practices by international experts from Paris.

The workshop was led by Baptiste Lingoungou, fashion professional and founder of Mode Européenne boutiques in Congo and Cape Verde, and Hester Vanacker, a researcher specializing in the circular economy applied to the fashion sector. Through theoretical and above all practical sessions, participants discovered how to transform used materials into valuable pieces, while integrating the principles of responsible production.

The aim of this initiative is to raise young people's awareness of the environmental challenges facing the textile industry, and to provide them with concrete skills to promote innovation, creativity and waste reduction.

Created in the last quarter of last year, the Be Green Academy is a graduate school specializing in green professions, ecological transition and corporate social responsibility (CSR). Its founder, Dr Okouma Mbella Tchitchelle, is director of the environmental and CSR consulting firm Horizon Iinternational.Through this type of activity, the Be Green Academy is implementing its ambition to become a benchmark player in sustainable business training in Pointe-Noire and beyond.

Note that upcycling is a process that consists of adding value to used products by giving them a new, more qualitative life. In concrete terms, the idea is to recover all kinds of materials no longer in use to create objects or products of superior quality.
