Morocco - France/Dakhla and Nice prepare twinning in the context of a "virtuous bilateral dynamic
Dakhla and the French city of Nice are preparing a twinning arrangement, with the signing of a letter of intent by the President of the Dakhla City Council, Erragheb Hormatollah, and the Mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, in recognition of their shared ambition to further deepen their partnership.
The signing of the document, which took place on Saturday in the presence of Morocco's Consul General in Marseille, Mohamed El Hamouli, paves the way for the promotion of priority areas of cooperation such as tourism, green energy and the exchange of expertise.
On this occasion, Christian Estrosi said he was "very pleased" to be working to deepen the partnership between Nice and Dakhla, "as an extension of the virtuous bilateral dynamic that we now need to reinvigorate and consolidate".
"It is extremely important today for our two cities to work together to meet common challenges, including those related to development and climate change", stressed the Mayor of Nice.
The twinning between Dakhla and Nice is part of the renewed dynamic of Moroccan-French cooperation, particularly since French President Emmanuel Macron's visit to Morocco in October 2024, emphasized Erragheb Hormatollah.
This partnership will extend the range of cooperation between the two cities in promising sectors such as energy transition, investment promotion and the port sector, in line with the aims of the development model for the Kingdom's southern provinces.
Emphasis will also be placed on sharing expertise and experience between the two tourist attractions, at a time when Dakhla is moving towards developing its offer as a destination in its own right.
