Benin

Since 2016, Benin has established itself as a model of responsible digital development in Africa. With this same dynamic in mind, a new era began on Monday November 10, 2025 in Cotonou with the official launch of the "JaimeMaLangue" project.

The brainchild of a strategic collaboration between ASIN and Institut IIDiA, this ground-breaking project combines inclusion, culture and technology to give Beninese languages a digital existence. Better still, it aims to equip Benin with its own artificial intelligence, capable of understanding, interpreting and valorizing the speech of its citizens.

Placed under the theme "Benin speaks to the future", the event, which brought together key players in the digital, culture and research sectors, marks the starting point of a national mobilization to collect votes. The project, which aims to make every citizen a player in Benin's digital future, is based on three major pillars: inclusion, innovation and heritage.

According to the designers, the platform, whose pilot phase starts with the "Fongbé" language, is based on a participatory process:

- The user registers and selects his or her language by visiting : jaimemalangue.bj
- He reads or repeats sentences in his language
- His voice is recorded and sent anonymously to a national database
- A committee of experts validates and processes the data.

"This data is then used to train artificial intelligence models capable of understanding local languages. Through this project, we want to enable every citizen to interact with technology in his or her native language. We call on everyone to get involved to ensure the project's success. Share the link around you", said the presenters.
