The Rennes Brno twinning committee is organizing several events to mark the anniversary of the rapprochement between the two cities. Here's what's planned.
It was 60 years ago. Rennes and the town of Brno in the Czech Republic signed their twinning agreement . To celebrate this anniversary, the twinning committee and the city of Rennes are organizing a series of events running until Saturday, November 29, 2025. Here's the program of festivities.
Cooking workshop, exhibitions, concert...
On Tuesday, October 28, at 10 a.m., the La Cohue third-place organizes a Czech cooking workshop. At 2pm, an introduction to Moravian dance will be offered, also at La Cohue.
A party will then take place between towers 4 and 6 of the allée Brno. At 3 p.m., sports activities, drawing and games will be organized. At 4pm, it's time for a Czech snack, followed by a concert of Czech and Breton music at 4:15pm.
On Thursday October 30, at 8:30pm, Frédéric Faure will adapt and perform a monologue by Bohumil Hrabal, at the Maison internationale de Rennes.
From Wednesday November 5 to Saturday November 8, the exhibition Le Voyage de la marionnette will highlight "the Czech puppet tradition, a UNESCO World Heritage Site".
Until November 7, an exhibition by Vera Tumova can be seen at the Maison internationale de Rennes, quai Chateaubriand. This Czech journalist, poet and painter specializes in urban sketching and illustration.
On Saturday November 8, at 5pm, the Arvor cinema will be showing a preview of the animated film Les Contes du Pommier, by Jean-Claude Rozec, Patrik Pass, Léon Vidmar and David Sukup.
During a stay with their grandfather, Suzanne (8) improvises as a storyteller to brighten up the house with imaginary and wonderful stories, which she tells to her two brothers to fill their grandmother's absence.
Synopsis of the animated film
On Saturday November 29, the Ardašev duo will take to the stage of the Conservatoire de Rennes, Place Jean-Normand, for a four-handed concert. The two Czech pianists - Renata Lichnovská and Igor Ardaševovi - will play pieces by Czech composer Bedřich Smetana.
