Vietnam - Laos: cooperation in STEM education and robotics
On September 26 and 27, the Vietnamese Consulate General in Savannakhet (Laos), in cooperation with the Vietnamese STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Alliance and the Education and Training Department of Lang Son province, organized a seminar and practical sessions on STEM education and robotics, in the town of Kaysone Phomvihane, Savannakhet province.
The event was attended by Dang Thi Hai Tam, Consul General of Vietnam in Savannakhet, representatives of the Lang Son Education and Training Department, and a large number of teachers from both countries.
Dang Thi Hai Tam stressed that the seminar was not only a professional forum, but also a living illustration of the Vietnam - Laos friendship. She said that STEM and robotics were essential tools to help young people master technologies and stimulate innovation. She expressed the hope that a robotics and STEM competition would be organized in late 2025, on the occasion of the 50ᵉ anniversary of Laos National Day, with the support of the Consulate General.
For his part, Hoàng Van Thao, head of the Lang Son Education and Training Department delegation, stressed the importance of educational cooperation in the context of globalization and the 4.0 industrial revolution. He recalled the initiatives undertaken in Lang Son to develop STEM education and robotics, including the creation of school clubs, teacher training and participation in international competitions.
Over the course of two days, twenty teachers from Lang Son mentored their Lao counterparts in hands-on workshops. The event opened up new prospects for educational cooperation between the two countries, while consolidating the special, loyal and enduring Vietnam - Laos friendship.
