Cambodia/Train-the-trainer workshop for French teachers to integrate artificial intelligence in Cambodia

From September 29 to October 1, 2025, 36 French teachers from member institutions of the Agence universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) in Cambodia gathered in Kampot to take part in a train-the-trainer workshop entitled "Integrating artificial intelligence to diversify pedagogical approaches and better meet learners' needs".

Organized by the AUF with the support of the French Embassy in Cambodia, through funding from the Fonds Équipe France (FEF), this training course was led by Ms. Jeanne RENAUDIN, Professor at the University of Salamanca in Spain, Associate Expert at France Éducation Internationale and Trainer of Trainers.Jeanne RENAUDIN, Professor at the University of Salamanca in Spain, Associate Expert at France Éducation Internationale and Trainer of Trainers.

The workshop was opened by three keynote speakers:

  • Prof. Nicolas Maïnetti Prof. Nicolas Maïnetti, AUF Regional Director - Asia-Pacific, gave a remote welcome, highlighting the importance of artificial intelligence in the teaching of French and underlining the importance of artificial intelligence in the teaching of French.He emphasized the importance of artificial intelligence in the teaching of French, and underlined the central role of the AUF in supporting the digital transformation and pedagogical innovation of its member institutions.
  • Élodie Wynar, French Cooperation Attaché and Representative of the French Embassy in Cambodia, recalled France's ongoing commitment to promoting the French language and its initiatives to modernize the French language.aise and its initiatives to modernize teaching and help teachers adapt to technological developments, as part of the "Promotion du français dans la perspective du Sommet de la Francophonie 2026" project.
  • H.E. MR. OM Romny, Secretary of State at Cambodia's Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, underlined the importance of strengthening teachers' skills in order to promote the French language.importance of strengthening teachers' skills in order to offer learners innovative methods adapted to contemporary educational challenges. On this occasion, he emphasized that the Royal Government of Cambodia has defined digital transformation and the development of artificial intelligence among its strategic priorities.velopment of artificial intelligence, seen as essential levers for modernizing our education system and boosting national competitiveness. He also added:
    " This training is therefore perfectly in line with the national vision, enabling our teachers to appropriate innovative pedagogical tools, while remaining rooted in the teaching of French, a language of knowledge, culture and cooperation ".

This workshop is part of the AUF's regional drive to support its member institutions in the appropriation of digital tools and to strengthen the pedagogical capacities of French teachers. Through practical activities and exchanges of experience, participants were able to explore new approaches integrating artificial intelligence to enrich their teaching practices and better meet the diverse needs of their students.

This initiative illustrates the joint commitment of the AUF and the French Embassy in Cambodia to supporting the professionalization of teachers and promoting an innovative, inclusive and forward-looking Francophonie.
