France/Venerque. Heritage Days under the sign of twinning
To mark the 42nd European Heritage Days on September 20 and 21, the Venerque Heritage Association is organizing an exhibition on the theme of twinning at the TerraViva cultural center.
This year, the commune celebrates 35 years of links with its partner towns: Rivoli-Veronese (Italy) and Hodosa (Romania). The event will trace the history of these two alliances, from the starting point in 1990 to the present day. "The first word that comes to mind when I think of twinning is friendship, and I'd even say fraternity. In 35 years, we've had mayors who have supported us to keep these exchanges going," explains Delphin Bonato, president of the twinning committee. To celebrate this communion, Romanian and Italian delegations will be on hand, and CM1 and CM2 pupils from Venerque school, as part of the "Passeport du petit citoyen" program, will be invited to visit the exhibition. Throughout the weekend, films, photos and testimonials will highlight the benefits of twinning: open-mindedness, intercultural learning and solidarity between citizens of different nationalities.
