Congo/ "Mbongui de la femme africaine": women at the heart of sustainable development
Through the fifth edition, to be held from July 30 to 31 in Brazzaville, the organizers of the "Mbongui de la femme africaine" (African Women's Mbongui) aim to give concrete expression to their commitment to pooling efforts to actively contribute to sustainable development on the continent, as women represent a strong potential for development. The main aim of the event is to provide women with the tools they need to become autonomous in their daily and professional lives.
The 2025 edition will be held under the theme "African women, pillars of sustainable development and catalysts for innovation". It will highlight the role of African women in the dynamic process of sustainable development. In the sphere of politics and good governance, the involvement of women in the inclusive decision-making process will help achieve sustainable development goals across the continent and the rest of the world.African women, the cradle of humanity, are the source of a multitude of innovative, constructive and dynamic solutions at both African and global level, contributing to the creation of a new, inspiring, supportive and sustainable society.
African women, living on the continent and in the rest of the world, create, dare, invent, manufacture, produce, innovate and undertake in various fields, including health, education, agriculture, agri-food, entrepreneurship and innovation, acting for the common good. They are an extraordinary reservoir of initiatives, projects, creativity and innovation, and the theme of this year's event is to bring them all together, as agents of solutions, hope and change. In concrete terms, the aim is to motivate, involve, bring together and strengthen the commitment of African women, so that they can implement constructive initiatives with results for sustainable and inclusive development across the continent and the rest of the world. The idea is clear: to create around this theme a working environment where trust and solidarity must come first.Together, hand in hand, they will work to change negative narratives, to propose concrete solutions that will shape the world of today and tomorrow.
Indeed, the "Mbongui of African Women" is an initiative of the non-governmental organization EWC, aimed at enabling African women not to remain on the margins of development, to face up to resilience, operational skills building and self-confidence through learning the basics of leadership and female entrepreneurship. This is an opportunity for them to acquire the knowledge and skills to become trained, effective and active interlocutors in favor of the entities in which they are involved, or in the various business projects they wish to develop. This initiative is also an opportunity to promote their membership and involvement in public and private institutions. The aim is to encourage women to empower themselves, to give the best of themselves in whatever they do, and to encourage those who are self-censoring and afraid to step out of their comfort zone.
A catalyst for opportunities, a place where synergies are forged that are essential to building tomorrow's world, the event will bring together women from different corners of the continent and beyond, business leaders, entrepreneurs, businesswomen and women's associations.business leaders, associations, families, public and private administrations, non-governmental organizations, academics, shopkeepers and many others. The event will feature a number of exchanges, workshops, conference debates, panel discussions, round tables, coaching and experience-sharing sessions led by men and women who have succeeded in overcoming social barriers, from a variety of backgrounds. Their testimonies and professional experiences will enable others, until now reluctant, to gain self-confidence, because every woman must be an example for others.
