France - Canada/Deux-Sèvres: "United by three centuries of history" Niort signs a new twinning agreement with a Quebec town
Through this eighth twinning, the town, along with Chauray, aims to renew ties with Sorel-Tracy (Quebec), with whom it shares common ancestors.
Following on from Atakpamé in Togo, Covè in Benin, Wellingborough in the UK and a number of towns in Germany and Spain, Niort is now twinned for the eighth time. This time, Niort is turning to Quebec. The agglomeration is associated with the project, which Chauray has already joined. Since Saturday June 21, 2025, a delegation from Sorel-Tracy has been visiting Niort and the Marais Poitevin.
