Chad: UNDP celebrates women's commitment with Women of Excellence Award
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has launched the Prix d'Excellence Féminin, with the support of a jury made up of professionals from the media, civil society and other sectors, to encourage and promote the actions of Chadian women.
The jury selected ten women from different fields, in recognition of their leadership and positive impact on society.
Opening the discussions, the UNDP representative underlined the importance of this initiative in a context where Chad is affirming its commitment to gender equality.
"These women carry the voice of thousands of others. Recognizing them as such is an affirmation that peace is also built through inclusion", he declared.
Categories of honor
The women selected were honored in the following categories:
- Mediation: for those who work to resolve conflicts
- Human rights: Defenders of fundamental freedoms
- Education and awareness: Pioneers of access to knowledge
- Young women leaders : The inspiring next generation
- Cultural ambassadors: Guardians of heritage and social cohesion
- Women in the media: Voices that inform and unite
- Disabled champion: Models of resilience
- Athlete for peace: Sport as a lever for cohesion
- Traditional leader: Those who combine modernity and tradition
- Special Recognition Award: For exceptional commitment
Beyond the award itself, the aim is to celebrate Chad's progress in terms of inclusion, and to pay tribute to those who work every day for a fairer, more united and more peaceful future.
This award embodies the hope of a Chad where every woman and every young girl can say: "Me too, I have my place. I too can. "
The winners, whose names will be announced at an official ceremony, will become ambassadors for peace and female empowerment throughout the country.
